At Demades Design, we are proud to have partnered with the Cyprus Youth Organization (ONEK) on the Mobile MakerSpace project, an initiative that brings hands-on technology and creative exploration to young minds across Cyprus. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to empowering the next generation through innovative design and access to cutting-edge resources.
The Mobile MakerSpace is a fully equipped, mobile laboratory designed to inspire and empower youth by providing access to high-tech tools and educational resources, wherever they are in Cyprus. As part of ONEK’s mission to cultivate a culture of “making” among young people, the Mobile MakerSpace fosters creativity, critical thinking, and essential 21st-century skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
Serving schools, educational institutions, and organized groups, the Mobile MakerSpace offers workshops and hands-on activities that help young people develop practical skills in design, construction, and entrepreneurship. By making advanced equipment and peer-learning opportunities accessible to all, the project democratizes technology and design, ensuring that every young person can explore their potential and bring their ideas to life.
The Mobile MakerSpace is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art tools and technologies, including 3D printers, laser cutters, drones, virtual reality systems, robotics kits, and microcontrollers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. These resources enable young people to experiment with digital fabrication, electronics, and programming, supporting the development of practical skills in design, engineering, and technology.
The mobile lab delivers a variety of educational workshops, tailored for different age groups and interests. Workshop topics range from bridge construction and video game design to robotics and sustainable design, all aimed at fostering creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
By making these resources mobile, the project ensures that even young people in remote or underserved areas have access to the latest technologies and learning opportunities, helping to bridge the digital divide and promote equal opportunities for all.
At Demades Design, we are proud to have been responsible for every stage of the Mobile MakerSpace’s creation. Our team managed the entire design process, from the initial concept sketches and 3D modeling to the final execution and delivery. This comprehensive approach ensured that the Mobile MakerSpace is not only functional and robust, but also visually engaging and adaptable to the diverse needs of Cyprus’s youth.
A key feature of our design was the integration of an autonomous solar power system, allowing the MakerSpace to operate sustainably and independently wherever it travels. We also developed distinctive vehicle exterior branding to ensure strong visual identity and community presence. Inside, we focused on ergonomic interior solutions, creating a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for both instructors and participants. Our design prioritized flexibility, safety, and user experience, resulting in a mobile lab that encourages exploration, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
